Most modest brides in America buy a gown cut for someone else and pay a tailor to close it up: raise the neckline, line the sleeves, cover the back. Halal Bridal skips that step. Every gown here starts with a closed high neckline, full-length sleeves and opaque lining, and is sewn to the ten measurements you send. There is no size chart to fit into and no fitting appointment to travel for. Halal Bridal was founded by Sarah Aktim after her own search for a modest wedding dress in America.
How it works
- Choose your gown. Thirty-four made-to-measure dresses in white, ivory, red, green, gold, blush and navy, from $499 to $2,800. Most come with a matching hijab, and most of the white gowns with a veil.
- Send ten measurements. A soft tape, a friend to hold the other end, and the measuring guide, which shows each measurement in a photo. The order form walks you through them one at a time.
- We sew it for you. Standard production is 8 to 10 weeks. Express (4 to 6 weeks) and rush (from 3 weeks) are available at checkout. Free standard shipping in the US. We also ship to Canada, Australia, the UK and 15 other countries in Europe; outside the US, any import duties or VAT are paid to the courier on delivery.

The nikkah, the walima and the henna night rarely call for the same dress. Browse nikkah dresses for something simple and white, henna night dresses for green, gold, red and navy, or the full bridal collection for the main event. If your neckline matters most, start with high neck and long sleeve gowns; if you want the drama of a veil without the pins, see the cape wedding dresses.
What you can expect
Full coverage on every gown, so there is nothing to layer underneath. A hijab that tucks into the collar with no gap and no pins showing. Fabric that stays opaque under flash, because it is lined. And a fit that is yours, because the gown was cut to your numbers and no one else's.
